Before the turbochargers, horsepower numbers, leather interiors, and pearl paint, the foundation needs to be right.
Classic Ford Mustangs from the 1960s and ‘70s are some of the most recognizable cars in American history, but they are still nearly 60-year-old machines at this point. Meaning rust, worn-out suspension parts, tired interiors, and poorly executed repairs can turn even the best parts list into a disappointing final product.
That is why every Restomod Mustang build begins with careful inspection and preparation. Whether the project is a clean 1965-66 Mustang Coupe or a heritage-inspired 1967-68 GT500 Tribute, the shell has to be strong enough to support modern power, modern grip, and modern expectations.
A great restomod is not built by simply choosing expensive parts. It is built by choosing the right foundation, the right components, and the right builder to bring everything together.
Powertrain: The Heart of the Build

The personality of any car begins to take shape with what is under the hood, and our Ford Mustangs are no different.
At Restomod Mustangs, we offer a wide range of powertrain options designed to match each client’s vision, driving style, and performance goals. From a classic 427 stroker to modern 5.0L Coyote platforms, our builds can be configured naturally aspirated, supercharged, or turbocharged depending on the level of performance desired.
Whether the goal is a reliable street cruiser making around 460 horsepower or a much more aggressive performance-oriented build capable of well over 1,000 horsepower, every engine combination is selected with purpose.

Power is only part of the equation. The right powertrain has to deliver drivability, reliability, and the kind of character that makes the car feel alive every time you turn the key.
But even the best engine is only as good as the system behind it.

Transmission: Power Is Only Useful If It Gets Delivered Correctly
A great engine needs the right transmission to make the car feel complete.
At Restomod Mustangs, we offer multiple transmission options to match the personality and purpose of each build. For drivers who want a more connected, hands-on experience, options like the Tremec 6-speed or TKX 5-speed matched with performance clutches bring a true performance manual feel to the classic Mustang platform.

For clients who prefer modern drivability, we also offer several automatic transmission options, from refined overdrive automatics like the 4R70W 4-speed to more advanced modern setups designed for smooth cruising, like the 10R80 10-speed, which allows quick response and confident power delivery.
The right transmission changes everything: acceleration, highway manners, drivability, cruising RPM, and how the car responds when the road opens up. Whether the goal is a relaxed weekend cruiser, a mountain-road machine, or a high-horsepower restomod built to handle serious power, the transmission helps define how the entire car feels.

Once the power is built and delivered properly, the next step is making sure the chassis can actually use it.
Suspension: Where Old Mustang Feel Becomes Modern Confidence

Suspension is where a classic Mustang stops feeling classic and starts feeling engineered.
Gone is the antiquated factory suspension. In its place, our builds come standard with a full Mustang II-style front coilover suspension, tubular control arms, oversized sway bars, subframe connectors, and a complete 4-link coilover rear suspension.
This setup transforms the car from a vintage cruiser into something far more planted, responsive, and confidence-inspiring. Better geometry, modern damping, and improved chassis rigidity allow the Mustang to feel composed on the street, stable at speed, and far more capable when the road starts to twist.

For the serious performance driver, we also offer our Ultimate Pro-Touring Track Pack, featuring Detroit Speed coilover suspension front and rear. This package is built for clients who want a sharper response, improved handling, and true pro-touring capability from their classic Mustang.
Of course, making a car handle better is only half the equation. If it can accelerate and corner like a modern performance machine, it needs to stop like one too.
Brakes: Modern Power Requires Modern Stopping Ability

Modern power demands modern stopping confidence.
Every Restomod Mustang build comes standard with Wilwood 4-piston calipers and drilled/slotted rotors front and rear, giving each car the braking performance needed to match its upgraded suspension, tire package, and powertrain.
This setup delivers stronger, more consistent stopping power than the original factory system while also improving pedal feel, heat management, and overall driver confidence. Whether the car is built for weekend cruising, mountain roads, or spirited street driving. Reliable braking is not optional; it is part of what makes the entire build feel complete.
For clients who want the highest level of braking performance, our Ultimate Pro-Touring Track Pack includes Wilwood 6-piston calipers with drilled/slotted rotors front and rear. This upgraded system is designed for serious driving, offering even greater braking force, control, and repeatability when the car is being pushed harder.

With power, suspension, and braking working together, the next major piece is what actually connects all of it to the road.
Wheels and Tires: The Contact Patch That Changes Everything
Wheels and tires are where stance meets performance. Our signature widebody fender flares give each Restomod Mustang an aggressive road presence while allowing us to fit up to a 315/30R18 tire on all four corners.
Clients can choose from 18-inch wheels with 315/30R18 tires, 19-inch wheels with 295/30R19 tires, or custom-designed 3-piece MV Forged wheels for a truly personalized setup.

This setup is especially important on builds like our 1965-66 Fastback Widebody and 1965-1966 Drift King, where grip, stance, and road presence all need to work together. Paired with modern coilover suspension, oversized sway bars, and a 4-link rear, this tire package delivers the confidence needed for autocross, track days, mountain roads, and spirited street driving.
The result is a car that does not just look wider and more aggressive — it uses that width to become more capable.

But performance is not only about what happens outside the car. A proper restomod has to feel just as special from the driver’s seat.
Interior: Where Craftsmanship Meets the Driving Experience

The interior is where the build becomes personal.
Out with vinyl and in with leather, every Restomod Mustang's interior is fully bespoke and tailored to the owner’s vision, from seat selection and interior color to gauge style and overall driving feel.
Each custom cabin features a shaved and smoothed dash, custom French-stitched dash pad, Alcantara headliner and visors, billet steering wheel and shifter, and premium components from industry leaders like Ringbrothers and Billet Specialties.

Whether the goal is a track-focused cockpit or a refined cruiser built for long drives, we design the interior around how the owner wants to experience the car. And while the snarl of the V8 may be all the soundtrack you need, every build also includes a full JL Audio sound system paired with an 8-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Turn the music on and cruise, or turn it off and let the car speak for itself. Either way, the cabin is built to match the quality, performance, and personality of the Mustang around it.
Still, some of the most important parts of a build are not the ones most people notice first.
Cooling, Wiring, and Details: The Parts Nobody Sees Until They Fail

The difference between a flashy build and a great build is often hidden in the details most people never see.
Cooling, wiring, lighting, hardware, panel fitment, and final assembly may not be the most glamorous parts of a restomod, but they are what determine how the car feels after the photo shoot is over.

That is why every Restomod Mustang build is designed with reliability and refinement in mind. Our electrical overhaul includes a full American Autowire wiring harness, MSD ignition, LED headlights, and sequential LED taillights. These upgrades bring modern function into a classic Mustang without taking away from the car’s identity.
The same attention carries into the exterior details. We offer premium components like Ringbrothers hinges, vents, and trunk spoilers, along with available flush-mount glass for a cleaner, more refined profile.
These details may be subtle at first glance, but together they elevate the entire build. Whether the final vision is a clean cruiser, a widebody performer, or a tribute to one of Ford’s most legendary nameplates, these small decisions are what make the car feel complete.
A top-tier Mustang is not only judged by how it looks under the lights. It is judged by how it starts, drives, functions, and holds together after hours on the road.

That is where the right parts and the right builder make all the difference.
A Mustang Built With Purpose
The perfect restomod Mustang is not built by choosing the most expensive part in every category. It is built by choosing the right parts that work together.

Engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, interior, and supporting systems all need to complement one another. When that happens, the result is not just a modified Mustang. It is a classic car that feels complete — powerful, refined, reliable, and capable of being enjoyed the way the owner always imagined.
At Restomod Mustangs, every build is shaped by that philosophy. We do not believe in throwing parts at a car just to fill a spec sheet. We believe in building complete, purpose-driven Mustangs that honor the original design while delivering the performance, comfort, and craftsmanship modern drivers expect.

Whether the vision is a 1965-66 Convertible, a 1969-70 Boss 429, a GT500 Tribute, or a full widebody performance build, the right parts and the right people installing them make all the difference.
Because the best Mustang build is not just about horsepower, stance, or style.
It is about building a car with purpose.
