There’s more to a custom car than just aftermarket parts with a smile. Behind every Restomod Mustang built is a hand-crafted story; our next three builds showcase just that.

Restomod Mustangs is proud to announce a special three-car order with artist Post Malone, bringing together three distinct Mustang platforms, three different personalities, and one shared vision: the classic Ford design that's reimagined with modern performance, bespoke craftsmanship, and unmistakable road presence.

Our build sheet for him will include a 1965 Drift King, a 1967 GT500 Eleanor, and a 1969 Boss 429. Each car represents a different side of Mustang history and a different Restomod Mustang styling. However, all three are being built with the same purpose-driven approach that defines every Restomod Mustang project.

While the final colors, interior treatments, and several bespoke details will remain under wraps for now, the overall direction of the builds already makes this one of the most exciting projects in the Restomod Mustangs lineup.

The 1965 Drift King

To start, the 1965 Drift King is built for the driver who wants a Mustang with attitude from every angle. The early Mustang body has always been one of the most desirable classic Mustang shapes, but the Drift King turns that familiar platform into something far more aggressive. It is not a quiet tribute car or a lightly modernized cruiser. It is a performance-focused build designed to make a statement before it ever starts.

This car represents the modern performance side of Restomod Mustangs. It is the kind of build where stance, grip, power, and presence all have to work together. The goal is not simply to make an old Mustang look more dramatic. The goal is to build a machine that feels sharp, serious, and unmistakably custom.

From its widebody attitude to its driver-focused personality, the Drift King brings a completely different energy to this three-car collection. It is raw, aggressive, and built to stand apart from the rest.

The 1967 GT500 Eleanor

Few Mustang shapes carry the kind of instant recognition that the 1967 GT500 Eleanor does. It has the long fastback profile, the aggressive front end, the side scoops, the muscular stance, and a legendary silhouette. It is one of those cars that reaches beyond the normal Mustang world and becomes part of the larger performance car conversation.

For Post Malone’s specific car, the GT500 Eleanor build keeps that iconic visual foundation while bringing the performance package into the modern era. Under the hood, the car will feature a Whipple-supercharged Coyote engine paired with a 10R80 automatic transmission. Making sure the gloves will always be off with this combination.

The Coyote platform brings modern Ford performance, clean drivability, and high-rpm capabilities. Adding the Whipple supercharger on top of the 5.0L will ensure the car will have ample amounts of horsepower at any given moment. The 10R80 automatic transmission will give the build a modern driving experience, offering quick and firm shifts, consistent performance, and a level of usability that makes the car feel far more refined than a traditional classic Mustang.

This is the kind of build that blends nostalgia with modern engineering. It still carries the drama of the Eleanor shape, but underneath, it is being built to perform like something much more current.

The 1969 Boss 429

The 1969 Boss 429 brings a completely different attitude to the collection. Where the 1965 Drift King feels compact and aggressive, and the 1967 GT500 Eleanor feels sleek and cinematic, the Boss 429 feels powerful and commanding. It is the big-body Mustang with presence. The proportions are longer, the stance is heavier, and the car naturally carries a more serious muscle car personality.

For this build, Restomod Mustangs is keeping the Boss-inspired identity while also pairing it with modern supercharged Coyote power. Like the GT500 Eleanor, the 1969 Boss 429 will feature a Whipple-supercharged Coyote engine and a 10R80 automatic transmission.

That drivetrain choice gives the car a unique balance. Visually, it carries the feel of one of Mustang’s most legendary big-power eras. Mechanically, it brings the refinement, response, and reliability of a modern Ford performance platform.

The result is not a factory recreation. It is a modern interpretation of what a Boss-style Mustang can become if the Ford engineers from the late 60’s were given all the modern suspension and drivetrain. Delivering one of the greatest Boss 429 designs on the market.

What This Collaboration Represents

A project like this requires more than parts and horsepower. It requires trust. Commissioning one custom Mustang is already a major decision. Commissioning three at once means every detail matters even more. Each car has to feel unique, but all three have to meet the same standard. The craftsmanship, engineering, drivability, and final execution all have to match the level of the vision.

That is what makes this collaboration so meaningful for Restomod Mustangs. It shows that these cars are not built to follow a formula. They are built around a purpose. Whether the goal is a Drift King, a GT500 Eleanor, a Boss 429, or something completely different, every build starts with the same idea: take one of the most iconic Mustang shapes in history and rebuild it with modern performance, bespoke detail, and a clear vision from the very beginning to give you one of the greatest driving experiences around.

Final Thoughts

Together, they represent the range of what Restomod Mustangs does best. These are not simple restorations, and they are not off-the-shelf custom cars. They are bespoke builds designed to preserve the emotion of classic Mustang styling while delivering the power, control, comfort, and presence expected from a modern performance machine.

More details will be revealed as the builds progress, but for now, one thing is clear. These three Mustangs are in full swing and will continue to show our top-tier build quality.
